ATZILUT:  Eved Adonai

Avdei Zman" (Servants of Time) is an exquisitely contemporary poem wriiten in the Middle Ages by Yehuda Halevi –  here set to music composed by Hazzan Jack Kessler –  performed by Hazzan Kessler with his ensemble "Atzilut."

Yehudah HaLevi, a prolific poet of the Golden Age of Spain writes:

The slaves of time —  are the slaves of slaves;

The servant of God — he alone is free,

And so when every person  seeks his portion — my soul says, 'My portion is God!' " 

The core phrase in Hebrew: "Eved A-donai hu levad chofshi" (The servant of God alone is free!)
